The right fragrance does more than smell lovely. It becomes part of how people remember you, and part of how you feel when you walk into a room.
Understand the scent families
- Floral: rose, jasmine, peony. Romantic and soft.
- Fresh: citrus, green notes, light musk. Clean and bright.
- Warm: vanilla, amber, sandalwood. Cosy and enveloping.
- Woody: cedar, vetiver, patchouli. Grounded and elegant.
Think about the feeling, not just the notes
Ask yourself how you want to feel: confident, calm, playful, polished? Starting with a feeling helps you narrow down the family that suits you.
Give it time on your skin
A fragrance changes as it settles, moving from top notes to heart notes to base notes. Wear it for a few hours before deciding, and avoid testing more than two or three scents in one go.
Layer with intention
Pair a perfume with a lightly scented body lotion or mist in the same family for a softer, longer-lasting effect. Apply to pulse points such as wrists and the base of the neck, and resist the urge to rub your wrists together.
Your signature scent isn't something you find overnight. It's something you grow into.
